This is a varied and challenging role and will require a great deal of collaboration with the Support & Installation Teams responsible for providing consultancy, installation and support services to our customer base. You will be responsible for managing the implementation and ongoing management of wide area circuits, customer and internal network infrastructure. As a part of the full service we offer our clients, you will also engage in some pre-sales designs through to physical implementations on a project basis. You must have a strong networking background with skills in CISCO platforms / ASA & PIX security and a working knowledge of Routers / Switches / VPN would be a definite advantage. The position suits a person with excellent general competencies, good telephone manner with an interest to learn. Good face to face meeting skills and professional mannerisms are essential as there is also a requirement to participate in customer meetings to provide technical input. It is desirable, though not essential, to have recognised certification or qualifications such as MCSE/CCNA/CCNP, and essential to have practical experience of managing business critical network environments. The Person we are looking for must have...Competencies: Internal Network • Day to day management of transit, peering and other interconnect relationships • Day to day management of transport providers using Ethernet and associated technologies • Day to day management of internal Windows 2003 / Cisco infrastructure both in our HQ and data centre racks. • Management of our shared platform incorporating LAMP and DNS hosting in both our geographically diverse data centres • Experience with Nominet/ICANN Guidelines for Domain Registration / Transfers • Management of our internal network services (Linux based DNS / Mail Relays / Spam Filtering etc) • Support our development department on Linux issues with our internal bespoke applications • Assistance with maintaining our virtual lab for deployment and testing scenarios • Managing the full cradle-to-grave installation (and support thereafter) of our Predictive Monitoring Platform and its deployment to our customers networks Competencies: R&D • Researching and testing new IT solutions for deployment both internally and to our customers Competencies: Customer Networks • Design, physical installation and configuration of customer networks in their individual environments • Development of high availability and/or security focused architectures • Managing predominantly Cisco based networks utilising ASA/PIX, routers, wireless access points and switches • Support customer wide area circuits and remote equipment Competencies: Pre-Sales • Interact with Customers at varying technical levels to extract and document requirements • Develop proposals with Account Managers to achieve customer specifications General Competencies: • Service Provider networking (ISP) experience • Competency with skills required for the core roles outlined above • Competent at fault diagnosis, tracing and traffic capture/analysis • Formal qualifications such as MCSE/CCNA, CCNP or similar is advantageous but not required • Experience in creating Network Diagrams with Microsoft Visio • Committed professional with a variety of technical skills, and a proven service oriented methodology • Past experience which required the ability to work under pressure and to measured quality levels • Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with excellent written and spoken English • Internet and Computer Literate • Have a flexible approach to work and be able to handle a number of tasks simultaneously • Be dedicated, honest and reliable to the business • Be discreet and respect confidentiality both within and outside the business Why the Internet Group....
