The Role...

• The opportunity is for an experienced network engineer to join a growing and reputable company who operate full outsourcing and support services
  

• You will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of wide area circuits and internal network infrastructure and services
  

• You must have a strong networking background with skills in CISCO platforms (ASA security devices) and a working knowledge of Routers / Switches / VPN would be a definite advantage
  

• It is essential to have a good understanding of Linux System Administration
  

• A background of working in a managed hosting company / ISP would be beneficial
  

It is desirable, though not essential, to have recognised certification or qualifications such as MCSE/CCNA/CCNP/CompTia, and essential to have practical experience of managing business critical network environments.

The position suits a person with excellent general competencies, good telephone manner with an interest to learn.

• Day to day management of transport providers using Ethernet and associated WAN technologies
  

• Day to day management of internal Linux / Windows 2003/2008 / Cisco infrastructure both in our HQ and data centres
  

• Management of our shared platform incorporating LAMP and DNS hosting (experience of BIND, Apache and mySQL are a must)Management of our ISP facing network services (Linux based DNS / Mail Relays / Spam Filtering etc)
  

• Support our development department on Linux issues with our internal bespoke applications
  

• Assistance with maintaining our virtual lab for deployment and testing scenarios
  

• Dealing with all the general day to day support for our internal users
  

• Liaising with 3rd parties and other vendors to resolve network issues.

You must be...

• Proven track record of IT support in a Service Management field
  

• Good communication skills
  

• Desire to increase personal knowledge
  

• Excellent Customer Service Skills along with written communication skills
  

• Ability to work in a team and individually
  

• Experience with Nominet/ICANN Guidelines for Domain Registration / Transfers
  

• Microsoft/Cisco/ Linux related qualifications will be a distinct advantage
  

• Excellent knowledge on the full range of Microsoft Operating Systems
  

• CCNP, CompTia, MCSE, MCITP
  

• Solid understanding of MS 2008 Windows server
  

• Experience with Debian and Redhat based Linux distributions
  

• Solid understanding of Active directory
  

• Ability to diagnose issues and investigate solutions
  

• Experience with virtualisation technologies including Citrix Xen, VMWare and Hyper V.
